The drive of the pruning robot built within the framework of the GRAPLER project underwent a new, much more difficult testing round in Eger. The goal was no less than navigating on muddy, bumpy terrain.
The testing was timed for after the rains, greatly complicating the operation of the drive and all the equipment around it, as the water layer and the mud did not freeze. The accumulation of mud to this extreme extent provided an opportunity to test the performance of the mud scrapers, the chain control, the battery, and the engines.
As a conclusion, we can state that although the test was not realistic, as we do not have to prepare for such extreme conditions, the drive perfectly overcame the obstacles. The pruning robot was able to operate in places where tractors would have been stuck, thanks to its relatively light weight. It was instructive to observe the behavior of the vegetation stuck with mud on the wheel and its inner arc.
